Mayor Reeves & Beau: Welcome the Canadian National Retriever Championships Sept. 16-22

Huron Shores Welcomes the 2012 Canadian National Retriever Championships Sept. 16-22

Welcome, and thank you for visiting the Municipality of Huron Shores online.

Situated between Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, to the west and Sudbury, Ontario, to the east, the Municipality of Huron Shores is comprised of some 450 square kilometres consisting of settled areas such as Iron Bridge, Little Rapids and Sowerby, surrounded by countryside of agricultural, forested and recreational properties cradled in a dramatic setting of Pre-Cambrian shield topography.

Our greatest resource, in addition to our residents, is our water.  With 13 lakes, two major rivers, numerous streams, creeks, and wetlands, as well as 50 kilometres of scenic Lake Huron coastline, water is and will continue to be, our most vital resource. Our newly approved municipal Official Plan provides a framework which ensures the preservation and conservation of our fresh water resources.  While Council’s eyes are firmly fixed upon economic development, we are working to provide an Official Plan framework that ensures that our invaluable water resources endure for future residents of, and visitors to, our municipality.  Council will remain mindful of the importance of water stewardship when considering any economic development opportunity which may present itself as we move ahead.  The water which arises within, and courses through, the Municipality is central to our well being.

Visit us soon and experience the environment which all who live in Huron Shores hold so dear.
