East Algoma Economic Development Strategic Plan

January 12, 2012

Have a voice on how to build the economy of Huron Shores:  A Community Workshop on guiding the East Algoma Economic Development Strategic Plan (EAEDSP) was held on Monday, October 24th, 2011 at the Day and Bright Community Centre. Workshops were also held in each of the 4 other participating municipalities (Township of Johnson, Township of Plummer-Additional, Town of Bruce Mines and the Town of Thessalon).

The outcomes from the October 24th Community Workshop on Values to Guide the Economic Devleopment Mission have been compiled.  In addition, a summary of the overall Community Values as expressed by the 5 Municipalities has also been compiled.  Please click on the links below to view these reports.  Hard copies of the reports are available at the Municipal Office.

  • EAEDSP – All Five October 2011 – Community Values Outcomes

Project Status Update:
The consultants, Mr. George Schrijver of WCM Consulting Inc. and Mr. Greg Bender of MMM Group, are in the process of contacting key Stakeholders who may be able to develop ideas and then become Champions of the initiatives when the plans are implemented.  Based upon this input, a draft Economic Development Strategic Plan will be created. In late January the consultants will present the key aspects of this to Council and then to the Community in February for critique and enhancement.  Final release is expected before the end of March.
