HSFD Stn 1 Office – 69 Little Rapids Rd

Effective Monday, May 13th, 2013 the Municipality of Huron Shores has LIFTED the Fire Ban originally imposed on May 7th.  Open Air Burning Permits may be purchased at the Municipal Office for $5.00.  Permits may also be obtained at the Fire Station 1 Office Building (former Thessalon Township Municipal Office) located at 69 Little Rapids Road, next to the Fire Hall, in Little Rapids on Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to Noon only.  Permits are valid for 2 weeks and are ONLY renewable (at no extra cost) via telephone (705-843-2033) OR in person at the Municipal Office (bring the permit with you).  You MUST quote the Permit Number and the Responding Fire Station in order for your permit to be renewed for a further 2 week period.

The Fire Department reminds everyone to exercise caution when burning, adhere to the regulations on the permit, and that NO DAYTIME BURNING IS PERMITTED.  Please visit the Fire Department page of this website for more information.

Huron Shores Fire Ban NoticeMay 7, 2013 Original Notice:   Due to the unusually high fire risk caused by current dry air conditions, the Municipality of Huron Shores has imposed a FIRE BAN effective immediately until further notice.  Small, contained fires are permitted for cooking and/or warmth.

All Open Air Burning Permits (for burning grass, wood debris, etc.) are suspended and no permits will be renewed while the ban remains in place.  The Fire Department reminds everyone to exercise caution when burning.  Camp fires should never be left unattended and always ensure that sufficient tools, water, etc. are at hand to control and then thoroughly extinguish the fire afterward. For additional information regarding Fire Bans, open air burning and penalties for infraction of the by-law, please click here, or call the Municipal Office 705-843-2033.
