Update – October 19: Huron Shores Staff Dress For the Cause

October 22, 2018

On October 19 Huron Shores staff “Dressed for the Cause” to raise funds for Breast Cancer Research.  This is the 4th year that staff have participated in the event.  Contributions from staff and municipal office visitors raised $141.00 with all proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada.  Featured in the photo, from left to right are:  Sara Leach; John Stenger; Kelsey Nyman; Marla Lauszus; Debbie Tonelli and Natashia Roberts.

Original October 15/18 Post Follows:

Be sure to wear something pink and stop by the Municipal Office on Friday, October 19th, for a cup of coffee or tea and a sampling of home-baked goodies as Huron Shores staff participate in Dress for the Cause to raise funds for Breast Cancer Research.  The following information is from the Dress for the Cause website:

“Your donations support Canadian breast cancer patients.

The money you raise for the Breast Cancer Society of Canada provides funding for our dedicated researchers and physicians in cancer centres, universities and laboratories across the country who share our vision of an end to breast cancer and work every day supporting our mission to save lives through breast cancer research.

Every breast cancer patient is different and through research we have learned a one-size fits all approach to treatment doesn’t work for everyone. That’s why we have a 5-year plan to develop and implement personalized medicine for breast cancer patients – an extraordinary advancement!

In our first year, we will provide patients with access to broader, more accurate diagnostic testing which is not routinely available in Canada today.

Our researchers conduct translational, or ‘bench to bedside’ research – working closely with physicians to deliver new treatments and improve patient outcomes. Through our Virtual Lab Network, research findings are shared among colleagues across Canada to advance a cure for breast cancer.

BCSC receives no government funding – all of our research is funded through the generosity of our donors. The money you raise supports patient-focused research for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of breast cancer.
