April 28, 2025: Mississagi River and Low-Lying Areas

Although the weather appears clear today, rainfall across the broader watershed is expected to impact the Mississagi River and surrounding areas over the coming days. With saturated ground and additional rain in the forecast, water levels could rise further by mid to late week.

Low-lying properties, flood-prone areas, and riverbanks are at increased risk of flooding. Conditions could change quickly depending on rainfall amounts.

Residents and property owners are strongly encouraged to:

  • Secure or move sheds, equipment, and loose items from areas that have flooded in the past.
  • Monitor local water levels closely and stay alert for changes.

If you know a seasonal property owner who may not be aware of the situation, please reach out and share this information with them. Community communication is vital during changing conditions.

Visitors and tourists are also reminded:

  • Stay clear of fast-moving water and flooded areas.
  • Exercise caution near riverbanks, trails, and boat launches.
  • River currents can be extremely dangerous, even if they don’t look fast-moving.

Centennial Park & Boat Launch (Missisagi Crescent, Iron Bridge) is now CLOSED until further notice due to unsafe conditions. Please respect all signage and closures for your safety.

We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as they become available.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping keep our community safe.
