The Public Works Department provides the following services for the Municipality:

  • Road Maintenance
    • Huron Shores consists of 236.7km of road, 475 lane kilometres (lane kilometres are the lanes of a road)
      • Winter: 375 km of lanes are maintained – snow removal, plowing, sanding, culvert thawing, ice scarifying
      • Seasonal: grading, ditching, pavement and gravel patching, surface treatment, dust control, roadside brushing, road signs, erosion control and flood control
  • Road construction and patrolling
  • Bridge and culvert maintenance
  • Municipal equipment service and maintenance
  • Municipal drains
  • Landfill maintenance for 4 sites and oversight of the Municipal Recycling Program
  • Parks and Recreation
  • Providing maintenance assistance to Municipal cemeteries

    • 3 stationed in Little Rapids – Ward 1
    • 2 stationed in Iron Bridge – Ward 3
