Seasonal Labourer – Public Works

The Corporation of the Municipality of Huron Shores requires one (1) Casual/On-call Seasonal Labourer

Summary of Primary Duties:
Under the direction of the Public Works Superintendent:

  • Operates pick-up truck with snow plow/sanding equipment to clear parking lots, and other designated areas;
  • Remove snow and ice from surfaces using plows, shovels and other tools;
  • Spread salt on icy surfaces to improve traction;
  • Monitor weather conditions and respond accordingly to changing snowfall or ice accumulation; and
  • Carries out routine maintenance on snow plow equipment to ensure proper functioning

Qualifications:

  • Valid G driver’s license with a clean driving record;
  • Previous experience operating snow plow equipment preferred;
  • Sufficient mechanical ability to be able to perform preventative maintenance and routine repairs to vehicles and equipment;
  • Ability to work in cold and challenging weather conditions.

Hours of Work: On-call until April 15th, with response expected following 8cm of snow accumulation in specified areas or at the call out of the Public Works Superintendent, or Designate.

Wage Range: $18.38 – $21.62

Full-time Assistant Treasurer

Summary of Position:
Reporting to the Treasurer, this position is responsible for the general ledger maintenance; municipal payroll and assists the Treasurer with accounts payable and other Treasury Department activities of a general accounting nature. Qualifications and Skills:

  • A college diploma in an accounting-related discipline or an acceptable combination of education and related experience;
  • Completion of the Municipal Accounting and Finance Program and/or Municipal Tax Administration Program preferred;
  • Minimum three (3) years related experience;
  • General knowledge of municipal accounting requirements and practices;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent level of computer literacy;
  • Sound business acumen.

Full-time Equipment Operator

Equipment Operator (Grader)
Public Works, Iron Bridge
(full-time position with benefit package)

Summary of Primary Duties:

Under the direction of the Public Works Superintendent:

  • Operates various types of municipal heavy equipment (i.e. grader, plow truck, backhoe);
  • Grading of roads in the summer season and snow removal in the winter season;
  • Completes duties of a manual nature, as assigned (i.e. brushing, digging, culvert and sign installations, debris removal, infrastructure maintenance, etc.);
  • Carries out routine maintenance and repairs of municipal vehicles and equipment.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years related equipment operating experience, with particular focus on grading and snow plow truck experience;
  • DZ license, AZ is an asset
  • Good driving record;
  • Mechanical ability to perform preventative maintenance and routine repairs to equipment
