Why invest and grow in Huron Shores?

Positioned only an hour away from Sault Ste Marie and two hours from Sudbury, our rural and recreational amenities provide a relaxing home-base for your business while being close to those larger business centers. Our priorities for economic growth and community improvement plans align with protecting our natural environment, superb recreation activities and supporting local businesses. The Municipality is placing attention on establishing resources for our existing businesses and building information and resources to support new opportunities to establish within Huron Shores.

Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC)

To support the Municipality of Huron Shores through economic and community development initiatives by driving solutions forward that provide economic, community and social support to build a sustainable and economically viable community.
The members of CDAC believe that community development in a small, rural community requires a holistic approach to development where communities choose deliberate actions to influence the local economy and to improve the quality of life for its residents.

The Municipality’s Community Development Advisory Committee meets every month. We can offer the following to support your initiatives:

  • Free business listings on huronshores.ca with built-in Google analytics to enhance online presence for local businesses and those that offer local services
  • Access to custom business resources such as current grant programs, wage subsidy programs etc as requested
  • Opportunities to advertise sales through the Perkopolis Employee Discount Program
  • Ongoing, monthly meetings of the Economic Development Advisory Committee to collaborate on economic development initiatives
  • Identify emerging economic conditions that may require change in the strategic plan, official plan and/or zoning by-laws
  • Assist in issue resolution impacting economic development
  • Advocate for innovation

Should you like to attend a meeting or seek our support, we encourage you to reach out. Contact Amber Burgler, Deputy Clerk at: amber@huronshores.ca.
