On Tuesday, September 9, you’re invited to spend the afternoon with us in Huron Shores learning, connecting, and getting hands-on with local environmental action.

We’ll begin with the regular scheduled Environmental Advisory Committee meeting at 1:30 PM at the Municipal Office in Iron Bridge. The committee is seeking new members — if you’ve ever thought about joining, this is a great chance to see what they do. Current Terms of Reference and more information are available here: huronshores.ca/environment

Then at 3:00 PM, we’ll head outdoors with the NORDIK Institute, our proud partner in a multi-community water monitoring project, for live demonstrations that include:

  • eDNA sampling – using trace DNA in the water to detect species
  • Kick-and-sweep bug sampling – a simple method to check waterbody health by collecting aquatic insects

Everyone is welcome — watch, learn, and explore how you can get involved in future monitoring.
