HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT – PLEASE CHECK ON VULNERABLE NEIGHBOURS 🌡️ Environment Canada has issued a continued Heat Warning for our region today, with humidex values reaching up to 41°C. A cold front is expected tonight, bringing some relief — but this may be just one of many unpredictable weather events we face this summer. ☀️ What to do: Plan outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day. Stay hydrated and avoid strenuous activity in peak heat. Wear light-coloured, loose clothing and a wide-brimmed hat. Never leave children, pets, or anyone in a parked vehicle. Watch for signs of heat exhaustion: dizziness, nausea, headache, fatigue, dark urine. Heat stroke is a medical emergency — call 911 if someone shows signs of confusion, red/hot skin, or loss of consciousness. 👥 Let’s look out for one another:Check in on older adults, those living alone, and anyone who may be vulnerable — even a quick phone call can make a big difference. 🛑 Help First Responders Help You:Our area is supported by the Soo Vulnerable Persons Registry (SooVPR) — a free, confidential service that lets EMS, Fire, and emergency staff know who may need extra help during emergencies. 📲 Learn more or register here: https://www.soovpr.com/Register Let’s stay safe and support each other through whatever the season brings.
