March 30 – April 5: Upcoming Municipal Events Pancake Breakfast: Sunday, March 30th, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Sowerby Hall, 1410 Basswood Lake Rd. Adults $10; Children aged 5-12 $4; Children under 5 – Free. Sponsored by the Sowerby Heritage Centre Committee, this annual event is always popular: pancakes, maple syrup, sausages, boiled eggs, oranges, muffins, coffee and juice. Proceeds are used to maintain and enhance the Hall and Historic Cordukes/Weber 12-Sided Barn. ODRAP Application Deadline: Monday, March 31st. If you (private home owners, small businesses, farms or non-profit organizations) suffered damage from the September flood event, today is the deadline to submit your application for assistance under the private component of the Ontario Disaster Relief Assistance Program (ODRAP). Applications MUST be submitted, by the close of business, to the Municipal Office of the Township of MacDonald, Meredith and Aberdeen Additional (208 Church Street, PO Box 10, Echo Bay, ON P0S 1C0) the lead administrator for the municipalities affected by the storm. 2014 Interim Tax First Installment Due: Monday, March 31st. The first installment for interim property taxes may be remitted in person at the Municipal Office, 7 Bridge Street, Iron Bridge from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Cash or Cheque only, no Interac available, in Canadian Funds). Payment may also be remitted via your Canadian financial institution, either on-line or in person, or via the Municipal website’s secure E-Payment portal (please allow 2 business days to receive your login information, and input your roll number without any spaces e.g. 5724000001235700000.) It is the responsibility of the taxpayer to ensure that payments are made in a timely manner, regardless of receipt of the tax notice. Waste Site Summer Hours: on Wednesday, April 2nd, all 4 Municipal Waste Disposal Sites will be open from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. As per By-law #09-44, from April 1st to October 31st Waste Site Summer Hours are: Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturdays are unchanged, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. NOTE: All Waste Disposal Sites in the Municipality of Huron Shores are closed on Statutory and Civic Holidays, Family Day, Easter Monday and Remembrance Day. Roast Beef Dinner Disaster Relief Fundraiser: Saturday, April 5th, 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Iron Bridge Lions Hall, 10 Clarissa Street. Tickets: Adults $20.00 (10 and Under) $8.00. Cash Bar available. Tickets are available at the Municipal Office, the Sun Ray Cafe (former Nugget) and Village General Store in Iron Bridge, Forestland in Thessalon, from all Huron Shores Council members and from Central Algoma Joint Disaster Relief Committee members by calling 705-842-3108 and 705-842-5622.
