Northern Ontario Residential Broadband Project The Council of the Municipality of Huron Shores is pleased to advise that it has been successful in being selected for a Northern Ontario Residential Broadband Project within the Community of Iron Bridge. This is an exciting endeavor for our small Community and, could lead to expansion into our more rural areas of Huron Shores! The technical provider, Leepfrog Telecom, will be setting up in the coming weeks and a minimum of 100 homes/businesses within the community will have an opportunity to participate in the project. In order to establish the current broadband capabilities within Iron Bridge, the funding agency, the Centre of Excellence in Next Generation Networks (CENGN), requires information on the existing broadband capabilities of the Community. Whether you participate in the first phase of the project or not, if you currently have internet capabilities, we would be most grateful if you would take a few minutes to follow the steps to run the Internet Performance Tool created for our Community. This information must be collected prior to the new technology being installed, in order to assess the Community’s current internet capabilities against the performance of the Leepfrog Telecom technology. Your participation in running the performance tool, prior to June 10th, would be most appreciated. At the next Regular (electronic) Meeting of Council, on June 10th, Kirby Koster, of CENGN, will be making a presentation to explain the project in greater detail. If you are interested in being part of the project, we encourage you to listen to the presentation. You may register for the Zoom meeting now via: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZEvcuitrjMjGd2DErB-vMCNM89wB2hxJIU4.
