Media Release – March 11, 2026

The Municipality of Huron Shores is pleased to share that the Province of Ontario has announced up to $1,546,687 in funding for infrastructure improvements within the municipality through the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program – Health and Safety Water Stream.

The announcement was made on March 11, 2026 by Algoma–Manitoulin MPP Bill Rosenberg.

This funding will support culvert replacements and related drainage improvements at multiple locations across the municipal road network. These improvements will help address aging infrastructure and ensure the continued safety and reliability of transportation routes throughout the municipality.

Mayor Jane Armstrong expressed appreciation for the Province’s support: “On behalf of Council and the residents of Huron Shores, I would like to thank the Government of Ontario for its support through the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program – Health and Safety Water Stream. Small northern municipalities are responsible for maintaining extensive infrastructure networks with relatively small tax bases, and investments like this make a meaningful difference for communities like ours. This funding will help us address important infrastructure needs while continuing to provide safe and reliable services for our residents. We appreciate the Province’s support and thank MPP Bill Rosenberg for his continued advocacy for our region.”

The Municipality thanks the Government of Ontario and MPP Rosenberg for their continued support of infrastructure projects that help maintain safe and reliable municipal services for residents.

Additional information regarding project timing and implementation will be shared as it becomes available.
