Flood Damage and Water Level Update
May 6, 2025
Damage Report Form
This message includes an update on current water levels and outlines how residents can help by submitting flood impact information to support a potential disaster recovery assistance request.
As of today, flows at the Red Rock Dam are holding at approximately 570 CMS. While river levels remain high, the municipality has been advised that conditions are stabilizing, and there is potential for a reduction in flow of approximately 75 CMS (+/-) as early as tomorrow.
If this reduction occurs, it would be a significant step toward moving out of active flood warning conditions. We will continue to monitor the situation and share updates as they become available.
Additionally, the Municipality is actively working to determine whether our area may be eligible for activation under the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians (DRAO) program, which can help residents recover costs related to essential property damage not covered by insurance.
👉 In order to move forward with a formal request to the province, the municipal office requires impact information from affected property owners. If your primary residence, small business, or farm has sustained damage due to overland flooding, sump pump failure, or seepage, please report it to the Municipality as soon as possible.
We are asking residents to share any preliminary flood-related impacts and to complete the Damage Report Form. The form can also be picked up at the municipal office.
Please submit the following:
- Photos of any water-related damage (structures, shoreline, etc.)
- Date/time the impact occurred
- Property address or location
- Short description of what happened and whether insurance applies
Please share with affected property owners you may know so that we can reach as many affected properties as possible.
Please note: The DRAO program must be officially activated by the Province. Submitting a damage report does not guarantee eligibility or compensation, but it is a critical first step in supporting a formal request to the Province.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued monitoring. If you have questions, contact the municipal office for support at 705-843-2033 or email@huronshores.ca.
