RAP Spreading & Road Prep Work Begins This Week 🚧 Starting Wednesday, June 4, 2025, road construction crews will be undertaking preparation work in two key areas within the Municipality of Huron Shores. The first phase of this work involves the application of Recycled Asphalt Product (RAP) to strengthen and prepare road surfaces ahead of future surface treatment.Work Locations: Green Lane – from Highway 17 to Station Road (approximately 900 metres in length) Ansonia Road – from McLean Road to the Thessalon River Bridge (approximately 2,700 metres in length) Crews will begin by tailgate spreading approximately 6 inches of RAP across the full width of the road surface at each location. This material helps build a more stable and durable base for future surface work while making use of environmentally-friendly, recycled materials. Following the initial spreading of RAP, a pulverizing crew will arrive to blend the material into the existing roadbed. This step ensures a uniform surface and strengthens the roadway in preparation for surface treatment to be completed at a later date. Traffic Notice:Construction signage will be placed in the area, and we ask all motorists to slow down and drive with caution when travelling near or through active work zones. Please be alert to workers and equipment. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as this important infrastructure work gets underway. These improvements are part of our continued effort to maintain safe and reliable roadways for all residents and visitors.
