The City of Sault Ste. Marie – Canada Water Agency “Water is all of our business. It is the foundation of all that we do, which is why the Government of Canada is establishing a Canada Water Agency to improve freshwater management across the country. A Canada Water Agency location would have a significant economic impact, including professional full-time jobs and significant economic investment. We believe Sault Ste. Marie would be an ideal location for such an Agency. The City of Sault Ste. Marie has partnered with the Lake Huron Collaborative’s Dr. Elaine Ho-Tassone to lead a series of eight community discussions in both in-person and online formats. We want to understand your perspectives regarding having a Canada Water Agency in Sault Ste. Marie, as well as your priorities and values for ensuring a water secure Algoma District. The City’s Canada Water Agency Task Force invites all Algoma District residents, Indigenous communities, and organizations – regardless of your familiarity with freshwater science or management – to share your perspectives for a water secure future for everyone. We also encourage you to share this invitation among your networks in the community. Contribute to this vision using our online form. Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you.
