Community Casting Call for the Rivers Speak Community Play Community Casting for the Rivers Speak Community Play will be held July 25-28 (times and locations below) Since 2013, The Thinking Rock Team has visited local towns and reserves – gathering in high schools, community centres, living rooms and around the fire – to meet people, hear their stories, and make art together. These stories and this art have formed the basis for the Rivers Speak Community Play. Over two weeks this September, an all-ages cast of over 50 professional and community performers will bring together local cultural, musical and storytelling traditions in eight magical performances at the Mississaugi First Nation Pow Wow Grounds. Thinking Rock is looking for interested Community Members to participate in this grassroots performance. Everyone is welcome and everyone will have a role to play, regardless of previous experience. Performance roles include actors, dancers, musicians, singers, puppeteers and stilt-walkers. No previous experience is necessary – just bring your enthusiasm! We need help making costumes, masks, puppets and sets – people with skills in sewing, carpentry, painting and construction are welcome! There will be making tasks suitable for all ages, experience levels and abilities. This is the time to try something new, meet your neighbours, and have a lot of fun! If you are interested in being part of the production, please sign up here, and then join us at a Community Casting near you – details below.
