Illegal dumping is the unauthorized disposal of waste in non-designated areas, such as roadsides, vacant lots, or private properties. This includes everything from household garbage to hazardous materials. ⚠️ Consequences of Illegal Dumping: Fines: You could be fined up to $365.00 for illegal dumping; see By-law #23-36. Our by-laws are strictly enforced to protect our community. Environmental Damage: Dumping waste can contaminate soil, water, and air, leading to long-term environmental damage. Health Hazards: Dumped waste can attract pests, spread diseases, and create dangerous conditions for residents and wildlife. 🌳 What Can You Do? Use Designated Waste Facilities: Properly dispose of waste at approved locations; please visit Waste Disposal & Recycling Services – Huron Shores for locations and hours of operation. The transfer station at 473 Cullis Road is now accepting household garbage, recycling, bulk items, and brush. Secure Your Trash: Make sure the lids on your bins are securely closed to prevent animals from spreading garbage. Report Illegal Dumping: If you witness illegal dumping, report it immediately to the Municipal Office at 705-843-2033 or to the Ontario Provincial Police Non-emergency Line 1(888) 310-1122.
