Dean Lake Bridge Closure FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEJanuary 9, 2025Kresin Engineering Corporation Recommendation Letter. Dean Lake Road Bridge Closed Due to Safety Concerns The Municipality of Huron Shores has closed the Dean Lake Road Bridge to all traffic effective immediately, following recommendations from Kresin Engineering Corporation (KEC). An engineering review determined that the structure is in a state of significant deterioration, creating a risk to public safety. KEC’s assessment was based on a review of load evaluation reports, biennial inspection reports, and steel and concrete testing results. The findings indicated the bridge is unsafe for use, and closure was necessary to ensure the safety of all residents and travelers. The next steps regarding the Dean Lake Road Bridge will be discussed at the upcoming Council meeting on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 , 7:00PM at the Iron Bridge Lions Hall. Council will deliberate whether to proceed with further detailed inspections, repairs, or other options for addressing the structural concerns. Key Details for Residents The bridge is closed to all traffic until further notice. Residents are encouraged to use the alternative route from Highway 17 to Eley Road.
