Municipal Office Closure – National Day for Truth and Reconciliation The Municipal Office will be closed on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Regular hours will resume on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. This day provides an important opportunity to recognize the history and ongoing impacts of Canada’s residential school system. It is a time to honour the children who never returned home, to support survivors and their families, and to reflect on our shared responsibility in advancing reconciliation. September 30th is also known as Orange Shirt Day, symbolized by the powerful message that “Every Child Matters.” The orange shirt is a reminder of resilience, healing, and the importance of ensuring that the voices of survivors are heard and carried forward. The Municipality of Huron Shores encourages all residents to use this day for: Reflection on the history and legacy of residential schools. Learning about the truths shared by survivors and Indigenous communities. Action in support of reconciliation in both personal and community life.
