Zoning By-law Review – Extended Feedback & What’s Next We want to thank everyone who has taken the time to share feedback so far on the 2025 Zoning By-law Review. Every comment helps shape how Huron Shores grows and adapts and because of that engagement, we are extending the feedback window to ensure every voice has a chance to be heard. The Zoning By-law is one of the most important tools for guiding how land is used and developed in our community. It shapes everything from new housing opportunities to rural and commercial growth, natural area protection, and the look and feel of our neighbourhoods. This update is about making those rules clearer, more flexible, and easier to work with, while supporting a strong local economy and sustainable development for the future. Extended Feedback Window The feedback window has been extended to December 1, 2025. A revised draft and summary of comments will be presented to Council on December 10, 2025 for information. Council will then consider the updated Draft Zoning By-law at a Special Public Meeting on February 11, 2026. This meeting will provide an opportunity for members of the public to make written or oral submissions before Council considers endorsement of the draft. A Modern Zoning Framework This update reflects years of review, public input, and collaboration between staff, consultants, and the community. It’s focused on clarity, balance, and practicality for everyone who lives, works, or invests in Huron Shores. Some of the key updates include: Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) – new flexibility to support housing options and affordability. Agricultural and rural diversification – broader permissions for on-farm and value-added uses. Simplified structure and improved readability – making it easier for everyone to navigate. Modernized lot coverage and setback standards – reflecting today’s needs while protecting community character. Enhanced environmental and buffer zones – ensuring long-term resilience and good planning practice. Open for Collaboration and Growth Huron Shores continues to plan with a focus on collaboration, clarity, and community balance. We value fresh ideas and practical approaches that make growth possible while respecting our rural character and natural environment. Our team works every day with the people who call Huron Shores home, along with property owners, community partners, and investors to help navigate projects that add value and strengthen our community. Public feedback remains at the centre of that process and continues to guide the zoning review currently underway. If you have already provided comments, please confirm by December 1, 2025 if you would like them included in the Council materials. You can also ask to be added to our contact list for ongoing updates.
