Huron Shores Supporting Regional Physician Recruitment Initiative Strengthening Access to Primary Care Across the North ShoreFebruary 17, 2026 The Municipality of Huron Shores is proud to support a new community-led physician recruitment initiative developed by the Town of Thessalon, the North Shore Health Network and the Huron Shores Family Health Team. Huron Shores is participating in this collaborative effort to help strengthen access to local healthcare and support the long-term stability of medical services in Thessalon and surrounding North Shore communities. Recognizing that access to primary care is a shared regional priority, Council has approved funding to contribute to this initiative and its implementation. Mayor Armstrong of Huron Shores notes: “In Northern Ontario, we know that solving challenges often means thinking outside the box and working together. This initiative reflects the kind of practical, community-driven solutions we do well in the North.
