The Environmental Advisory Committee will meet on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. with discussions including the continued success of the Community Water Monitoring Project.

Following a strong first year of community participation and data collection in 2025, the Committee is looking forward to expanding the program into Year 2 for 2026. Continued year-over-year testing plays an important role in building meaningful long-term data to help support and monitor the health of local water bodies throughout Huron Shores.

The Committee will be reviewing returning testing locations from last year, along with proposed additional sites on Bright Lake and Dean Lake.

Volunteers are currently being sought to assist with simple weekly water testing on public access points including:

💧 Centennial Park (Mississagi Crescent)
💧 Roe Park (Sunset Beach Road)
💧 Red Rock Lake
💧 Dean Lake

This is a great opportunity for students seeking volunteer hours, families looking for a meaningful outdoor activity, or residents interested in supporting local environmental stewardship.

Testing is simple, with samples ideally collected weekly at the same time and location. Volunteers are provided with a testing kit to sign out for testing. Training, guidance, and ongoing support will be provided until volunteers are comfortable completing the testing independently.
