Lithium-ion batteries aren’t only found in phones and laptops. Larger batteries are increasingly common in e-bikes, e-scooters, lawn equipment and power tools.

Because these batteries are larger and store more energy, NFPA recommends charging items such as e-bikes, scooters and power tools outside when possible. Charging equipment should never block a doorway, hallway or other exit that may be needed during an emergency. NFPA Content

Always use the charger intended or approved for the product and follow the manufacturer’s charging instructions.

Take a look at where you normally charge your larger rechargeable equipment. Make sure the area is appropriate, the charging equipment is in good condition and your exits remain clear.

Charge safely and always keep your way out clear.⛔
