Please be advised that the Municipal Office will be closed on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025, in recognition of Canada Day. Regular office hours will resume on Wednesday, July 2nd.

As you gather to celebrate, we encourage all residents to do so safely and responsibly — especially when using fireworks. Below are important safety tips to help ensure a safe holiday for all.

Firework Safety Guidelines

Setting Up:

  • Read all instructions, cautions, and warning labels on each firework item carefully.
  • Store unused fireworks in a dry, cool, non-humid environment inside a cardboard box, away from heat sources and open flames.
  • Set up in a clear, open outdoor space, and light fireworks on a hard, flat, and stable surface.
  • Ensure the wind is blowing away from spectators and any combustible materials.
  • Maintain proper safety distances as indicated on each firework label, and supervise children closely.
  • Have a bucket of sand, water supply, and a working fire extinguisher readily available.

During the Fireworks Display:

  • Fireworks should only be handled by adults aged 18 or older.
  • Do not handle fireworks while impaired by alcohol or drugs.
  • Light only one item at a time and use protective eyewear and gloves.
  • Light fireworks at arm’s length and then immediately move away.
  • Keep hair and loose clothing clear of ignition sources.
  • Never lean over fireworks, hold lit fireworks in your hand, or attempt to re-light defective items.
