As part of Emergency Preparedness Week, the Municipality of Huron Shores is encouraging residents to take proactive steps to prepare for emergencies by reviewing the Municipality’s newly released Emergency Preparedness Guide and updated Emergency Preparedness webpage.

The guide was developed to help residents prepare for a variety of emergency situations that may impact the community, including flooding, severe weather events, extended power outages, wildland fires, and evacuations.

Topics covered in the guide include:

  • Household emergency planning
  • Emergency kits and preparedness supplies
  • Shelter-in-place and evacuation guidance
  • Rural and remote preparedness considerations
  • Preparedness for persons of varying abilities and support needs
  • Pets, service animals, livestock, and agricultural animals
  • The Vulnerable Persons Registry and community support resources

Residents are encouraged to use Emergency Preparedness Week as an opportunity to review emergency plans, build or update emergency kits, and stay informed during emergencies and significant weather events.
