2024 City Nature Challenge

April 26 - April 29

The City of Sault Ste. Marie, Kensington Conservancy, Sault Naturalists, and the Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority invite residents to take part in the 2024 City Nature Challenge. This global event, held from April 26 to April 29, aims to gather observations of local plants and wildlife across 691 cities in 51 countries. Algoma District and Chippewa County will compete as an international team. Results will be announced on May 6.

To participate, download the iNaturalist app from the App Store or Google Play, create an account, and submit observations of wild plants and animals between April 26 and April 29. Visit www.citynaturechallenge.org for instructions. Those who submit at least five observations will be entered into a draw for prizes, including a $100 Visa gift card and a one-year membership to the Sault Naturalists.

Join these group activities:

  • Friday, April 26 at 9 a.m. at Fort St. Joseph
  • Monday, April 29 at 9 a.m. at Archibald Homestead.
    Both events are led by the Kensington Conservancy. Register at kensingtonconservancy.org.
  • Saturday, April 27 at 10 a.m. at Finn Hill, led by Sault Naturalists. Non-members must complete a waiver.
