Rural Agri-Innovation Network (RAIN)

The Rural Agri-Innovation Network (RAIN) will host its third annual Agriculture and Food Symposium on Friday February 5th and Saturday February 6th at Bruce Station Hall with the theme ‘Tools for Resilience.’
Friday February 5th, 7 to 9 p.m. $10 at door (includes refreshments)

  • Farm Succession, Estate and Business Planning for Farms and Advisers (Len Davies, Davies Legacy Planning Group Inc.)

Saturday February 6th, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. $15 at door (includes light breakfast, lunch, and refreshments)

  • Farm Budgeting & Financial Ratios (Len Davies)
  • What you need to know: Farm tax changes for 2016 (Nathan Dool, BDO)
  • Upper Michigan Research Extension Trials on Malted Barley & Feasibility (Ashley McFarland, Upper Peninsula Research and Extension Centre)
  • Season Extension Techniques and Technologies – four season vegetable production, high tunnels (hoop houses) and storage (Collin Thompson, The North Farm at the Upper Peninsula Research and Extension Center)
  • Update on 2016 research opportunities and programs (RAIN)
