Fire Prevention Week: Use the Right Charger🪫 With so many rechargeable devices in our homes, it can be tempting to grab whichever charging cord happens to fit. However, not every charger is designed to safely work with every device. NFPA recommends using the charging cord and charger that came with your device or one that has been approved by the device manufacturer. Using the wrong charger can damage the battery and increase the risk of fire. NFPA also cautions against inexpensive or off-brand chargers that may not meet appropriate safety standards. When purchasing a product powered by a lithium-ion battery, look for products that have been listed by a recognized testing laboratory, such as CSA, UL or ETL. This indicates that the product has been evaluated against established safety standards. Before plugging in tonight, take a moment to look at the charger you’re using. The right charger matters.✅ Learn more about Fire Prevention Week from NFPA
