Fire Prevention Week: Where You Charge Matters 📱 Where do you usually charge your phone? On the nightstand? On the couch? Maybe even on your bed? NFPA recommends charging rechargeable devices on a hard, flat surface, such as a table, desk or bare floor. Avoid charging devices on beds, pillows, couches or other soft surfaces. Devices and chargers naturally create heat while charging, and soft materials can trap that heat and restrict airflow, which can contribute to overheating. Keep charging devices in an open area where heat can dissipate, and always follow the manufacturer’s instructions. It’s a small change that can easily become part of your everyday routine: keep rechargeable devices off soft surfaces while they’re charging. 📱 Learn more about Fire Prevention Week from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
