Municipal staff have remained actively engaged over the past several weeks as high water conditions impacted roads, properties, and public safety across the region. We thank residents for their cooperation in sharing updates, staying informed, and supporting one another through this challenging period.

As a visual reminder of just how high the water levels rose, one flooded roadway was even used as an improvised boat launch. While access was limited in several areas, we remind the public to use designated launch sites for safety and to help prevent damage to municipal infrastructure.

Flooding in low-lying areas also led to property damage in some cases, including flooded basements and temporary hydro disconnections for safety reasons. We recognize that some residents are still dealing with the aftermath. If your property was impacted, we continue to encourage you to submit the preliminary form posted previously to support the potential activation of the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians (DRAO) program. Current Status – May 9, 2025

  • Mississagi Crescent, Short Street, and Eaket Drive have reopened.
  • The Centennial Park boat launch is now open and accessible for public use. (Please note that flows remain high—use caution.)
  • Total river flow into the Lower Mississagi River is now below 500 m³/s.
  • The flood warning has officially been lifted, with conditions continuing to stabilize.

Roads Remaining Closed:

  • Bolton River Road
  • Cameron Road

Floodwaters continue to recede, but we ask residents to remain cautious near waterways and report any damage or hazards. Official launch sites, such as Centennial Park, should be used instead of flooded roads, which may appear passable but remain unsafe.
