Recently Council and Staff hosted a Retirement Party for Assistant Treasurer Laura Miller and her family at the Thessalon Township Community Centre.  Laura joined the Huron Shores team in 2001 but her relationship with then and current Huron Shores Treasurer Sandra Leach extends from the time prior to amalgamation when Sandra was Clerk of Thompson Township, and Laura was part of the auditors’ team.

Laura grew up in Thessalon Township and attended school in what is now the Thessalon Township Community Centre.  She is Past President and current Vice President of the Thessalon Township

Heritage Association. She is active in organizing the Association’s annual Pioneer Night and its’  Country Fair and Silent Auction.   In appreciation of her service, Council presented Laura with a painting on granite depicting the Association’s Heritage Park Museum.

Laura plans to spend time and take holiday trips with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.  She is an avid scrapbooker and no doubt will soon have plenty of material with which to work.

Council and Staff wish Laura all the best on her retirement although we will miss her.  Don’t be a stranger.  Congratulations Laura!
