💙 Did You Know?

Transportation can be one of the biggest challenges for seniors and individuals with mobility needs. Fortunately, many Huron Shores residents have access to more than one transportation option to help them get to medical appointments, essential errands, and other important destinations.

🚗 Dr. H.S. Trefry Memorial Centre offers a volunteer driver program that helps connect people with the transportation they need while providing a rewarding way for community members to give back.

Algoma Manor also provides an Accessible Transportation Service, offering wheelchair-accessible and stretcher transportation for non-urgent medical appointments and other essential trips.

As Huron Shores spans a large geographic area, service availability may vary depending on where you live, but these organizations provide valuable transportation options for many residents across our region.

There is currently an urgent need for volunteer drivers in the Thessalon, Bruce Mines, and Desbarats areas. If you have a few hours to spare each month, consider joining the Dr. H.S. Trefry Memorial Centre’s volunteer driver team. Your time could help a neighbour maintain their independence while making a meaningful difference in our community.

Thank you to both organizations and the dedicated volunteers who help keep our communities connected.

As always, the Municipality of Huron Shores is happy to help connect residents with services and resources available through these organizations and other community partners. If you’re unsure where to start, please contact the Municipal Office by phone 705-843-2033 or email@huronshores.ca, and we’ll do our best to point you in the right direction. Community Services and Resources can also be found online: https://huronshores.ca/residents/community-support/.

Together, we can help keep our community connected.
