PUBLIC NOTICE – Road Closures and Work Zone Safety The Municipality of Huron Shores is reminding all members of the public to respect road closures and exercise extreme caution around municipal road maintenance operations. We have recently received reports of road closure barricades being moved or bypassed, and of road users attempting to pass graders while road work is underway. These actions create a serious safety risk for municipal employees, equipment operators, and the public. Please remember: Do not move, remove, or bypass road closure barricades or other traffic control devices. Do not pass graders or other road maintenance equipment unless directed to do so by the equipment operator or traffic control personnel. The flashing amber warning lights on municipal graders are activated to alert the public that heavy equipment is operating and that extra caution is required. Slow down, maintain a safe distance, and be prepared for changing road conditions when approaching a work zone. These requirements apply to all road users, including those travelling by motor vehicle, commercial vehicle, motorcycle, ATV, bicycle, horse-drawn vehicle, or on foot. Road closures and traffic control measures are in place to protect everyone. Entering a closed roadway, moving barricades, or disregarding traffic control devices puts both workers and the public at unnecessary risk. We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as our Public Works staff complete essential road maintenance safely.
