Supporting Accessibility in Emergency Response: HSFD Receives Sensory Support Kits The Huron Shores Fire Department is pleased to have received two complimentary Sensory Support Kits through a partnership between the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council, North City Insurance Brokers, and Autism Canada. These kits are designed to assist emergency responders when interacting with individuals who may be highly sensitive to noise, lights, or other sensory stimulation. Emergency situations can be stressful and overwhelming, and for some individuals, loud sounds and unfamiliar environments may increase anxiety or escalate behaviours. The Sensory Support Kits contain resources that can help responders create a calmer and more supportive environment while providing assistance. By reducing sensory overload and improving communication, these tools help ensure a more positive experience for those requiring emergency services.
