August 19, 2026

The Municipality of Huron Shores has opened a Public Tender by best offer for the sale of surplus residential lands, supporting the Municipality’s Local Housing Strategy and advancing community-scaled growth. This initiative creates opportunities for new dwelling units that fit the character of our villages and rural areas.

Closing Date: September 24, 2026, 4:00 p.m. ET

A Place to Belong
Huron Shores offers a welcoming, close-knit environment where everyday living comes with a traffic‑free commute, essential amenities close at hand, and year‑round access to Northern Ontario’s North Shore of Lake Huron. From hiking the Trans Canada and Voyageur Trails to kayaking the Mississagi River and exploring quiet country roads, life here blends natural beauty, recreation, and community spirit at a comfortable pace.

Available Land
Four properties have already sold, with six surplus parcels still available in Iron Bridge and along Highway 129, ranging from approximately 0.34 acres to 2.30 acres.

Properties are unserviced and sold as-is, where-is, with buyers responsible for confirming servicing and development potential. Most properties are zoned R1 – Residential Low Density, supporting single detached homes, duplexes and certain home-based businesses. One additional parcel is zoned Rural, allowing residential, agricultural and limited commercial uses.

Room for Ideas
Whether you are looking to build a home, invest in the community or explore a home-based business opportunity, these properties offer a range of possibilities. Permitted uses and development potential will vary by property, and purchasers are responsible for completing their own due diligence before submitting an offer.
