UPDATE: Spring Road Conditions June 5, 2014: Public Works advises that Half Load Hauling Restrictions have been lifted on most roads within the Municipality. Watch for signage at road entrances advising if load restrictions remain in place or have been lifted. Some Municipal roads continue to experience issues with frost and heaves. Public Works staff are continuing to patrol, monitor and deal with situations as they arise. Please drive with caution and according to conditions. Original Notice Follows: April 4, 2014: Public Works advises that Half Load Hauling Restrictions are now in effect for the Municipality of Huron Shores roads. On a seasonal (spring thaw period) basis, roads in the Municipality become too soft to withstand the weight of fully loaded trucks. It is imperative that the Municipality makes an effort to reduce the damage to the roads, thereby protecting the asset and limiting expensive repairs to the road network. Please assist us in reducing repairs to our roads by not having heavy deliveries to your property during this time of year. Public Works Superintendent Hadikin advises that with the saturated water table, in combination with the melt of this year’s deep snow levels, municipal roads, and in particular, the edges and shoulders, are extremely soft. The temporary, and in some places, unfinished repairs from the September 2013 flash flood are starting to show deterioration. However substantive repairs and patching may not be able to be undertaken until the roads are sufficiently dry. Public Works staff are continuing to patrol, monitor and deal with situations as they arise. Please drive with caution and according to conditions.
