Great Lakes Waterfront Trail participants are cycling from Sault Ste Marie to Sudbury From July 28 through Aug. 1, 2019, a group of cycling tourists – a large number of which are from out-of-province – will be pedalling through the region as they explore the north during the Great Waterfront Trail Adventure. The group will travel along the new Lake Huron North Channel expansion of the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail between Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury. Motorists are reminded that sections of this designated route include shouldered portions of Highway 17. July 30 – Bruce Mines to Blind River • Highway 638 • Highway 129 into Thessalon • The crossing at Highway 17 at Brownlee Road • Highway 17 east of Iron Bridge to Blind River (23 km on paved shoulders created to accommodate the route) Motorists are also asked to exercise caution as the cycling group tours through our area.
