Information Advisory – Recreational Vehicles Application: The Recreational Vehicle Licensing By-law does not apply to: Assessed Recreational Vehicles. Recreational Vehicles in Campgrounds. Recreational Vehicles on a lot with a Primary Residential Use for less than 30 days in compliance with the Municipality’s Zoning By-law. Stored Recreational Vehicles. Recreational Vehicles used for temporary habitation during construction with an approved building permit. Recreational Vehicles used for special events or short-term stays (14 days or less). Scope: This By-law applies to any Recreational Vehicle in the Municipality, regardless of placement date. Licensing Requirement: Each Recreational Vehicle requires an approved license and application. License and Regulations: Usage Restriction: No person shall use a Recreational Vehicle for habitation on any property without a license. Short-Term Use: A Recreational Vehicle may be used on a lot with a Primary Residential Use for up to 30 days per calendar year without a license if compliant with the Zoning By-law. Annual License: Recreational Vehicles used for temporary accommodations require an annual license. License Duration: Licenses are granted for up to five years, with extensions requiring Council approval. Setbacks and Limits: Recreational Vehicles must adhere to setback requirements and cannot exceed the maximum number allowed per lot size. Deck and Shed Restrictions: Only one uncovered deck and one shed per property are permitted, and they must meet specified requirements. Sewage Connection: Recreational Vehicles cannot be connected to sewage systems on properties with existing dwellings or on vacant properties without approval. Disposal Compliance: Grey water or sewage disposal must comply with certified systems or accredited facilities. Rental Prohibition: Recreational Vehicles cannot be rented out for profit. Application Requirements: Applications for licenses require the property owner’s consent and cannot be transferred, except in specific circumstances. Application and Fees: License Fees: License fees are set out in Schedule “A” and expire on December 31st of the year issued. Application Documentation: Applications require property ownership proof, site plans, and relevant permits or approvals. License Display: The license must be displayed on the Recreational Vehicle. Disciplinary Actions: Violations and Fines: Violations of the By-law are subject to fines under the Provincial Offenses Act set out in Schedule “C”. Daily Offense: Each day of violation constitutes a separate offense. Compliance Orders: The By-law Officer can order discontinuation of contravening activity or removal of the Recreational Vehicle. Cost Recovery: Costs of compliance work or removal may be recovered through invoicing or added to property taxes. Inspection and Penalties: Enforcement includes inspections and penalties for obstruction or interference. Administration: Delegation of Authority: The administration and enforcement of this By-law are delegated to the Clerk, Chief Building Official, and By-law Enforcement Officer. Function Delegation: They may delegate their functions as needed. By adhering to these guidelines, property owners and RV users ensure compliance with the Municipality of Huron Shores’ regulations on Recreational Vehicle use and storage.
