The health and wellness of our community, staff and volunteers are of utmost importance. At this time there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Algoma. While the risk to the general public remains low at this time, Algoma Public Health encourages everyone to take preventative measures during the cold and flu season.

As of 8:30 a.m. on March 17, 2020, the Municipality of Huron Shores is suspending public programs and temporarily closing a number of public facilities to promote social distancing and limit the potential spread of COVID-19 in the community.

The following Municipal Facilities will be closed until April 5, 2020, inclusive:

  • Ward 1 Little Rapids Community Centre
  • Ward 2 Sowerby Hall
  • Ward 3 Iron Bridge Recreation Centre (Arena)
  • Ward 4 Community Centre & Gym
  • Huron Shores Public Library
  • All Committee meetings will be suspended

In addition, public access to the Municipal Office and Fire Halls will be suspended until April 5, 2020. Residents are encouraged to pay bill on-line or use the Drop Box in the vestibule. For questions regarding services and payments please contact the office at (705) 843-2033 or email@huronshores.ca.

Until further notice, all municipal staff will be working and all other services will continue. The waste sites remain open; however attendants will not be interacting directly with the public.

We encourage Municipal Residents to follow the guidelines for hand-washing and social distancing recommended by Algoma Public Health. Misinformation about health issues can be harmful.
