The Municipality received the following notice from the local branch of the Canadian Blood Services:

logo for Canadian Blood Services“September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and we are encouraging you to donate blood to honour childhood cancer survivors, and remember those who have lost their courageous battle.

Blood donation during the month of September is often a challenging time, as many donors are busy settling into their regular business/working routines and families are busy getting their children of all ages ready to go back to school.  However, not all children will be healthy enough to go back to school this fall. The reality is that it can take up to five donors a week to help someone undergoing cancer treatment. The need for blood and blood products is constant, especially before and after long weekend.

We still have 17 appointments available for next week’s clinic, which takes place at the Blind River Community Centre on Wednesday, September 28th from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m..  Please book your appointment to help meet the needs of all patients at www.blood.ca or call 1 888 2 DONATE (1 888 236 6283).  We do accept walk-ins!  Please share the attached poster with your friends/co-workers to help spread the word.”

Thank you for your support of this Lifesaving Program!
