TVOKids and the OFMEM want all families to “Push 2 Buttons!” The Municipality received the following media release from the Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management (OFMEM): “TVOKids and the Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management (OFMEM) are partnering once again to raise awareness about the importance of early detection. This year, Ontario families are being asked to test both the smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms in their homes to make sure they are working. This year’s fall campaign begins on October 5th and ends on October 18th. Encourage everyone in your community to “Push 2 Buttons!” and test the smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms in their homes. Kids at home will love the permission to test the alarms to see if they are working. Adults, whether homeowners or renters, will have peace of mind knowing that they and their families have early warning when they hear the sound. Kids are encouraged to go to tvokids.com from October 5-18th and enter the number of alarms they have tested. The number will be added to the TVOKids “Push 2 Buttons!” counter. Kids will also be able to print a special certificate. For some added fun, TVOKids.com has a great online and interactive fire safety game for children 11 and under. Hot Spots Safe or Not encourages players to identify fire safety hazards in a house or apartment, room by room.”
