The Municipality received the following information from the United Way of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District:

“The United Way of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District is now accepting applications for the District Grants Program – district donations are reserved for the District Grants Program. The program is administered by a Volunteer Committee which consists of representatives from North Algoma, East Algoma and the United Way Board.

Eligibility: In order to be eligible for a District Grant, an organization must meet the following criteria:

  • be a registered charity with an office in the district that surrounds Sault Ste. Marie (between White River and Spanish, Ontario)
  • be governed by an active Volunteer Board
  • show a need for financial assistance
  • The program or service will address one of the Priority Issues – Essential Services or Workforce Entry and meet one or more expected outcomes.

Application deadline is January 19, 2018, final decisions will be made by March 27, 2018 and funding will be received by successful applicants April 2018.”
