The Municipality of Huron Shores welcomes individuals and organizations to appear before Council or a Committee to share information, express concerns, or make formal requests. Delegations play an important role in helping Council make informed decisions that reflect the needs and interests of the community.

The procedures governing deputations and delegations are outlined in the Municipality’s Council Procedure By-law #25-33. A summary of key requirements is provided below to assist you in preparing for your presentation.

Submitting a Request to Appear Before Council

To be placed on a Council agenda, a written request along with a signed copy of your presentation must be submitted to the Clerk by 12:00 p.m., 10 calendar days prior to the scheduled meeting. Submissions can be sent by email (email@huronshores.ca) or delivered in person to the Municipal Office. Late submissions may be accepted at the sole discretion of the Mayor and Clerk if circumstances warrant.

Submitting a Request to Appear Before a Committee

To present before a Committee, your written request and signed presentation must be submitted to the Chair of the Committee through the Clerk’s Office no later than six (6) days prior to the meeting. As with Council, late requests may be considered at the discretion of the Chair or Committee under exceptional circumstances.

Presentation Guidelines

  • Presentations are limited to ten (10) minutes per delegation.
  • For groups larger than five individuals, a maximum of two speakers may present, with up to ten (10) minutes each.
  • Presentations must be respectful, relevant to municipal business, and adhere to the Municipality’s Procedure By-law and Code of Conduct.

Next Steps After Your Presentation

Please note that Council or Committee will not make decisions on the same night as your presentation if the matter requires further investigation or discussion. You will be informed either during the meeting or afterward regarding the status of your request and any next steps.
